The YCAC 10s tournament on Sunday was a great success……. except for the YCAC team. We were up against a useful Kurumi side in the first round and ended up giving the ball away too often in the tackle or through lose handling. That was all the encouragement they needed and they pipped us by 1 score. We beat Green Tortoise easily in the plate semi final, and then were outrun by a speedy Waseda OB team in the final.
Eventual championship winners were Tokyo Gaijin, who beat Cru in a titanic semi, and then Acorn in the final.
Many thanks to the squad of Richard Corner, Ryota, Brett Wright, Gareth Hayward, Mike Powell, Craig Totton, Doogs, Garlo, Fraser Jamieson, Bob Pymble, Go & David Apps and to coach Steve Smith. All those who played deserve credit, but a special mention should go to Richard & Gareth who were amazing in the lose – Richard’s tap tackle on a flying Japanese winger was a marvel – Go, who put in some great tackles and Doogs who found gaps where none really existed.
